Our Expectations

Children, including our pupils, their siblings and other visitors.

At Green Oaks Primary Academy, we want every child to feel safe, happy, valued and ready to learn. We have high expectations for behaviour, learning and attendance, and we work in partnership with our families to help every child succeed.

We encourage our pupils to make positive choices, take responsibility for their actions and show kindness, respect and consideration towards others. Our approach supports children to understand why positive behaviour matters and how their choices contribute to a safe, welcoming and inclusive school community.

We expect pupils to:

  • Work hard and do their best, listening carefully and following instructions.
  • Attend school every day and arrive on time, ready to learn.
  • Follow our school rules and values, making positive choices both in and around school.
  • Treat everyone with kindness and respect, celebrating differences and helping others to feel that they belong.
  • Take care of our school, showing respect for property, equipment and the environment.
  • Use technology responsibly and in the manner it has been instructed.
  • Wear the correct school uniform and bring the appropriate PE kit when required.
  • Be polite, helpful and considerate towards other children, staff, families and visitors.
  • Bring only the belongings needed for the school day, leaving unnecessary or valuable personal items at home.
  • Use bikes and scooters safely, dismounting at the school gate and walking them while on the school site.
  • Read regularly at home and complete homework or home-learning activities when these are set.

By working together, we can help our children develop into confident, respectful and responsible young people who are proud to be part of our Green Oaks community.

Adults, including staff, parents, carers, visitors and other members of our school community.

At Green Oaks Primary Academy, we believe that children learn best when the adults around them work together and model the kindness, respect and positive behaviour we expect from our pupils.

We ask all adults, including staff, parents, carers, visitors and other members of our school community, to:

  • Treat everyone with kindness, dignity and respect, including pupils, staff, families and visitors.
  • Model positive behaviour and respectful communication, recognising that children learn from the adults around them.
  • Support the school's rules, values and expectations, helping children to understand the importance of making positive choices.
  • Work in partnership with the school, communicating openly and respectfully so that concerns can be addressed constructively.
  • Support good attendance and punctuality, ensuring children arrive at school on time and ready to learn.
  • Promote inclusion and equality, valuing and respecting the different backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, identities and needs within our school community.
  • Use appropriate language and behaviour when on the school site, communicating with staff or attending school events.
  • Respect the privacy and safeguarding of all children, including when taking photographs, recording or using social media.
  • Raise concerns appropriately, speaking directly with the school rather than discussing individual children, families or staff publicly or on social media.
  • Help us maintain a safe and welcoming environment by following school procedures and the guidance of staff while on the school site.

We understand that there may be times when adults disagree or have concerns. We will always seek to listen, work together and find a positive way forward, while maintaining respectful communication and ensuring that the wellbeing and safety of our children remain at the heart of every decision.

By working together and modelling the values we want our children to develop, we can ensure that Green Oaks is a safe, inclusive and respectful community where every child can thrive.
