Green Oaks Primary Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all members of the school community to share this commitment.

Safeguarding is what we do for all children to keep them safe whilst in our care. Child protection describes the policy and procedures specifically for those children who are at risk of serious harm or have been seriously harmed.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and all staff in school are well-trained and know how to safeguard pupils effectively. Our staff and volunteers go through all safeguarding checks on successful appointment to the school and when staff have concerns, they know who to speak to and understand the next steps that will take place.

Supporting Parents and Carers

Source: CSA Centre

The Centre of expertise on child sexual abuse (CSA Centre) has published a guide to help professionals provide a confident, supportive response to parents and carers when concerns about the sexual abuse of their child have been raised or abuse has been identified. The guide explains: the impact that sexual abuse has on the whole family; the importance of the role of the main care givers and wider family in supporting a child who has been abused; and the importance of the role of professionals to support parents and carers to support their child. The guide outlines how professionals can support parents effectively and includes advice on supporting parents and carers for professionals in particular roles and contexts.
